My independent films (produced through Palomino Productions) about flamenco, cultural and ethnic diversity, Afro-Peruvian rhythms, southern Indian bharatanatyam. world music and dance; and the music albums I've produced. Documentary films, dramatic narratives, experimental films. Some of my work relies on the collaboration of Antonio de la Malena. And I produce/direct in English and Spanish. A Little Background: an Extra for "Rasaki's Drums and the rich rhythms of Nigeria's Yorubá."
This 5-miinute photo essay (with narration) gives a little information about the life of drummer Rasaki Aladokun, subject of my documntary "Rasaki's Drums and the rich rhythms of Nigeria's Yorubá." It also gives some background on Yorubá history and culture. The Yorubá have been round for at least 1,000 years and possibly much longer. Among their finest achievements are the "Benin Bronzes" created in the 11th-14th centuries. And tens of thousands of Yorubá were enslaved and sent to North and South America where they have influenced many aspects of culture.

Sadly, two of them died this year but their memory lives on...and dogs really can be funny, as these three have been for me.
